Sony Ericsson Rachael teaser video plays with our hearts
The Motorola DROID might be at the forefront of the Android scene right now, but it looks like it's going to have some high-end competition soon -- Sony Ericsson's been hyping the Rachael / XPERIA X3 launch on November 3, and today it's put out this little teaser video. Nothing much here other than some fleeting glimpses of the handset in Luster White, but it's looking quite sharp, and if the final specs are close to the DROID's we could have a real battle on our hands -- especially since SE's crazy Android UI skin looks pretty sweet. Check the video after the break.
Acer’s T230H: One of them there fancy touchscreen monitors that work with Windows 7
How keen are you on touchscreens? Keen enough to navigate Windows 7 while using such a monitor? Acer has a new one, the T230H, which will allow you to do exactly that. A big selling point is that it’ll increase your productivity, but I’m not so sure.
I mean, is it easier to use a touchscreen to navigate Excel, or flip about Firefox? You’ll still have a keyboard, I should think, so it’s not like the iPhone where you’re forced to get used to this radical, new interface; you have no other choice. Here, you’re split between touching the screen and typing away on a traditional keyboard.
But I’m still not the biggest fan of touchscreens yet, so my bias is palpable.
Anyhow, the specs:
• 16:9, 23-inch, 1920×1080 LCD.
• HDMI interface
• 2ms response time, which should placate the twitch gaming crowd
• 80,000:1 contrast ratio
And so on. Again, there’s got to be a market for these things, but I’m not so sure I’m a part of it.
Motorola Droid Official: Coming November 6th, Priced at $200
As expected, the Motorola Droid today has made an official debut in the form of a Motorola press release confirming the leaked information about the Android 2.0 iPhone killer. The Droid, which will be on the Verizon network, will be priced at $200 with a 2-year agreement.
“We’re proud to work with Verizon Wireless and Google™ on the first smartphone to feature Android 2.0,” said Sanjay Jha, co-chief executive officer of Motorola and chief executive officer of Motorola Mobile Devices. “DROID by Motorola delivers a rich consumer experience with warp-speed Web browsing, a mammoth screen, and Motorola’s expertise in design and voice quality. Combined with Android’s open, flexible graphical user interface and the power of Verizon Wireless’ 3G network, DROID is a smartphone that simply doesn’t compromise.”
“This is an exciting announcement for Verizon Wireless, as the DROID by Motorola is the first device that we are bringing to market under our ground-breaking strategic partnership with Google,” said John Stratton, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless. “DROID by Motorola gives customers a lifestyle device with access to more than 12,000 applications that will help them stay in touch, up to date and entertained, using the best 3G network in the country.”
Here is the list of features in the Droid quoted from the press release:

Toggle back and forth between up to six applications at a time to juggle the universe and your apps. * Perform Google Search™ at the speed of sound: Simply tell DROID what you’re looking for using voice-activated search, and it will serve up Google search results based on your location. If you want more, simply type what you’re looking for into the search bar on the home screen and DROID will also search content on your phone, such as apps and contacts, and the Web. * Capture moments: Snap digital camera-quality photos with a 5 megapixel camera loaded with the works, such as a dual-LED flash, AutoFocus and image stabilization, or capture your friend’s antics in 16 million colors with DVD-quality video capture and playback. Store it all on the included 16 GB memory card, so you always have it on hand. * Multi-task like a master: Keep tabs on all your messages with integrated Gmail™ and Exchange e-mail pushed directly to you, but don’t let them get in your way. With the handy Android notification panel, go straight to the message or simply ignore it, and get back to the task at hand. And, a smart dictionary learns as you type and automatically includes your contacts. * Get where you need to go with Google Maps Navigation (Beta): DROID is the first device with Google Maps Navigation, providing turn-by-turn voice guidance as a free feature of Google Maps. It’s powered by Google and connected to the Internet. Use voice shortcuts and simply say “Navigate to [your destination],” and you’ll be on your way. See live traffic, use Street View or satellite imagery to view your route, and get access to the most recent maps and business information from Google Maps without ever needing to update your device.

Microsoft Experimenting With 5 Multi-Touch Mouse Prototypes!
While Apple claimed the “World’s first multi-touch mouse” title with its Magic Mouse this month little did we know Microsoft was working on its own. Not one or two or three but Microsoft is testing five prototypes of multi-touch mouse.
Though I find such technology amusing I think multi-touch mouse is nothing more than a fad. It’s certainly a good start but it is far from being a complete product. Why, you ask?
The kind of gestures Magic Mouse or the prototypes we see in the video (below) are capable of handling are not the only gestures we will use in the time to come.
The fact that our fingers are capable of a lot more, gadgets like multi-touch mouse limits our ability to perform certain actions using our fingers. That’s precisely why multi-touch mouse will eventually fade away after killing our existing mouse technology.
Alright, let’s not get ahead of ourselves and instead use what technology has to offer today. I think Microsoft is onto something with the Orb Mouse that not only recognizes the finger placement and gestures but also reacts to the palms placements.

As the official Windows 7 launch is set in motion, a bunch of new content is being released online to support the wider public availability. To kick things off, a handful of new first-party theme pack have been released on Windows.com, but with a twist.
In addition to a number of new international themes released featuring photographs from different regions of the world, 14 sponsored themes are also available for download with wallpapers sourced from various notable brands. They range from movies to sports cars, video games and even refreshment beverages (from both Coke and Pepsi!).
As time goes on, I’d expect more companies to jump on this opportunity as an easy and fun way to promote their products and brand. Music label EMI has already planned a whole site dedicated to branded Windows 7 theme packs.
